L'histoire des Super Junior débute grace au fameux casting qu'organise SM Entertainment qui à pour but de dénicher les nouveaux talents. A l'issue de ce casting, 12 garçons ont été retenus. Ceux ci forment à présent les Super Junior tels qu'on les connait aujourd'hui.
C'est le 6 Novembre 2005, que Siwon, Kangin, Ryeowook, Sungmin, Eeeteuk, Donghae, Eunhyuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Hankyung et Kibum sont lancé en tant que Super Junior 05.
Alors que le groupe était censé s'éteindre pour laisser place aux soit disant Super Junior 06, SM nous étonne en annonçant le retour non pas des Super Junior 05 ni 06, mais des Super Junior tout court, mettant un terme aux rumeurs qui courraient sur la fameuse rotation redoutée par tous les fans qui avaient manifesté leur mécontentement quand à cette idée.
Le groupe initial se voit ajouter un membre des plus talentueux (kyuhyun), et sort son premier single le 7 Juin, intitulé U.
Autant dire que c'est une bombe. Le single fait un carton, propulsant les Super Junior en première place des ventes même pas une semaine après la sortie.
Il faut dire qu'SM avait tout prévu : Quelques jours avant sa sortie (le 25 mai), SM proposait sur son site le téléchargement gratuit de la première piste de ce single. En tout cas, pari réussit pour SM dont le serveur du site n'a pas pu supporter les 400 000 téléchargements seulement 5 heures après la mise en ligne de U. Le board mis en place à ce moment là peut témoigner que des fans du monde entier étaient au rendez vous pour écouter le premier single évènement qui signait le renouveau du groupe.
Drogués au travail, les SJ, en plus de leur promotion, enchainent les différents Shows (Full House, Super Camp, SJ Minis dramas ...) ainsi que la présentation de différentes emissions télés (Super Junior Music Show, Hello Chat...) et radio (Kiss the radio)
2 premier sous groupes furent créer :
K.R.Y : Les trois chanteurs les plus talentueux des Super Junior : Kyuhyun, Ryeowook et Yesung, ont formé récemment un trio à part, nommé Super Junior - K.R.Y.
Cela fait parti de la stratégie de SM Entertainment pour ne pas limiter les Super Junior à toujours se produire tous ensemble, mais aussi pour viser certaines parts spécifiques du marché musical.
Super Junior T (Trot) : officiellement connu comme Super Junior T est la seconde sous unité du groupe coréen Super Junior établi en Février 2007. Ils sont l'un des quelques chanteurs de nouvelle génération connus avoir profité la musique trot, la forme la plus ancienne de musique pop coréenne.
Le groupe a été fondé en 2007, se composant de six membres fixes des Super Junior : Leeteuk, Heechul, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin et Eunhyuk
et puis ensuite 2 autres sous groupes virent le jour :
Super junior M (Mandarin) : Le 8 avril, Le nouveau sous-groupe a débuter officiellement sa carrière chinoise, Super Junior M, sortira son premier album Me (qui signifie "fan" alors que le "M" de leur nom est l'abréviation "Mandarin", langue dans laquelle ils chanteront) sera composé de 12 chansons toutes chantées en chinois.
Les membres de cette nouvelle unité sont Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, Siwon, Donghae et Hangeng mais également Henry, qui apparaissait déjà dans le clip de Don't Don et dont la possible intégration au groupe avait provoqué un vif soulèvement de protestations parmi les fans. En plus de tout ce beau monde, un autre membre chinois totalement inconnu fera partie du line up : Zhou Mi.
Super junior H (Happy) : Sous groupe des Super Junior, composé de Leeteuk, Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin et Eunhyuk. (dsl pas trouvé mieux T_T)
